We asked, Suzanne Campbell answered:

What can people expect when they work with you?

“I’ve learned that the greatest tool that we have in our psyche is the appreciation of empathy in undertaking any challenge. I have a great sense of humour, a love of life and learning, and a drive to understand what clients want to achieve for themselves, the project and the team. I get to know the people I’m working for and working with in order to create unique solutions for their unique needs. That means clients can expect a lot of questions, dialogue and innovative ideas to discover the unspoken to frame relevant solutions. It’s not about building projects — it’s about building relationships. I listen deeply and don’t give up easily on the quest to get the right answer, and although those answers are different for every situation they are built on many past lessons. I believe a well-managed design process can accommodate constraints and mitigate challenges, resulting in great design solutions without making excuses.”

What do you enjoy outside of work?

“I hold a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwan Do, which I took up in adulthood. I trained at a high level with peers 30 years younger but shared the same challenges and achieved the same goals. It was humbling and inspiring. I’m also a self-taught sailor and have traveled to destinations like the Grenadines, Tahiti, Turks and Caicos, and the Sea of Cortez. I used to play hockey and baseball, now it’s more about golf and curling. I enjoy hiking, travel, theatre, art and cooking.”
