Where art comes to life

Promoting community and connection in Chilliwack

Chilliwack Cultural Centre

The City of Chilliwack wanted to improve their community by connecting people and promoting interaction. For years the community considered designing a centre that would positively impact their community for years to come.

Consultations revealed that the design should have numerous functions for numerous users and should of course be inviting and interesting. The City wanted a facility that would be noticeably different without being ostentatious and required it to be sustainable and maintainable.

The final design was inspired by the natural beauty and simplicity of the local mountain ranges and the Fraser River. It has simple forms with natural light and provides the community with an art gallery, a 500 seat performance theatre, a flexible space that can be used for rehearsals, dance, music instruction or as an arts studio.
