Enbridge engaged Kasian to lead a major workplace transformation across 19 floors of its Calgary office tower. The shift moved the multinational energy company from a traditional, static office model to an engaging, highly collaborative environment designed to improve communication, support decision-making, and spark creativity.
Internally branded as O.N.E. (Our New Environment), the vision reflected Enbridge’s desire for a more cohesive workplace culture. Delivered in phases while the building remained fully operational, master planning guidelines helped ensure consistency, efficiency, and adaptability across all floors. A contemporary yet timeless look and feel was created with Enbridge’s brand colours, with reds and yellows signalling community and collaboration spaces.
Office floors once occupied by 60–70 employees were transitioned into open-plan layouts accommodating over 100 staff per floor, along with a range of team collaboration spaces. Sliding glass doors blur the boundary between private and shared areas, while attention to sightlines and acoustics supports both individual and collaborative work.
Demountable walls and systems furniture were used to create modular reconfigurable spaces centred around ‘enterprise zones’ for meeting and collaboration. These zones also include a fully equipped café that serves as a hub for informal meetings and social activity. Additional shared spaces are available to host events, including for local community groups.
The result has been a shift from 80% private office space to 80–90% collaborative workspace across 375,000 square feet.
