The Centre for Health Care Design

We are pleased to announce that we are now a Corporate Affiliate Member of The Centre for Health Design, joining 48 other member organizations as the fourth Canadian firm. This affiliation exemplifies our healthcare team’s steadfast commitment to implement Evidence-Based Design (EBD) principles in our design of healing facilities. EBD is the process of basing decisions about the built environment on credible research to achieve the best possible outcomes. For example, the availability of private rooms, less crowding, movable furniture, better acoustics, views to nature, nature art, greater daylight exposure, home-like interiors, and proximity and visibility of common spaces to the staff station are all supported in EBD research.

Evidence-based Accreditation & Certification

Additionally, The Centre for Health Design created the Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) program to establish a definition and process for incorporating EBD into healthcare architecture. Today, EDAC is an internationally recognized program that awards individual certification to those who demonstrate an understanding of the application of EBD in the design, construction, renovation, expansion and replacement of healthcare facilities. We are thus also proud to share that our healthcare team’s expertise has been further bolstered by Mauro Di Carlo, who was recently awarded his EDAC accreditation.
