Surrey Hub: Carbon Down, Happiness Up

We were engaged by the Government of Canada (PSPC) to complete a Master Plan (2019) followed by a Conceptual Stack and Phasing Plan (2023) for a large land parcel in Surrey, Canada. The project outlines a vision for a happy renewable community. In collaboration with the Surrey Planning Department and industry partners, we identified key drivers to guide site planning including community & culture, housing & density, mobility, natural systems, meaningful partnerships, employment & economy, and energy & resources. In response to the drivers, we developed a series of master plan options ranging from a dense, net zero ready community with opportunities for cultural interaction to a renewable carbon positive community which promotes innovation and lives in harmony with the natural environment.
