BC Hydro, Mica Dam: Vital operational and accommodation hub

The BC Hydro Mica Creek Townsite is a vital operational and accommodation hub supporting the workforce for the Hugh Keenleyside Dam and Revelstoke Generating Station. Located 137 km north of Revelstoke, its remote setting requires on-site housing for both long-term operational staff and short-term construction contractors.

To replace the aging facilities from the 1960s, we designed a modern, two-story prefabricated building featuring 40 modular studio dorm units, along with laundry facilities, storage areas, and shared amenity spaces. Modular construction played a pivotal role in the project’s success, enabling an accelerated construction timeline, enhanced quality through off-site fabrication, and efficient delivery to the remote site. This thoughtful design ensures the workforce is provided with comfortable, functional, and contemporary accommodations.
