Baymac Retirement Residence is a proposed new-build development that supports urban intensification and transit-oriented living. The design provides two levels of care – independent supportive living and assisted living. Developed through close collaboration with the client group, it has a thoughtful material strategy that addresses the urban context and animates the building facade, while allowing for efficient floorplates and structure.

Planned for the corner of Bayview Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive, the development underwent rezoning and site plan approval, ultimately evolving into a 242-bed, 9-storey residence (eight storeys plus a partial ninth) with one level of underground parking.

The design maximizes its prominent site with an exterior plaza, conversation nooks, and a dog run. A wellness space, including an exam room for visiting specialists, allows residents to access medical and therapeutic care within the community. Other amenities include multiple dining options, fitness, games, crafts, and a salon located at street level with views to the exterior and pedestrian realm.

As part of a broader collaboration with Revera and SmartCentres across four projects, Revera Baymac prioritizes resident experience by creating multiple scales and sensory experiences that allow residents to have a variety of experiences within the building and grounds.
