Yorkville Village

First Capital purchased the original Hazelton Lanes retail and residential development in 2011 with the goal of re-positioning opportunities for the property and capitalizing on its prime location. It is centrally located in Yorkville, Canada’s premier shopping district and one of Toronto’s most affluent neighbourhoods.

Kasian was initially retained for architectural and interior design services for a simple refresh of the well-known Hazelton Lanes – now Yorkville Village, mixed-use development. However in visioning and design workshops with the client, Kasian was able to demonstrate that an entire rethink of the project from an urban design perspective was required.

Our design team proposed implementing a seamless connection of the interior retail to the street in order to attract pedestrians into shops. A complete revitalization of the food services and common areas will create a more welcoming atmosphere where shoppers can take a break. The redevelopment will also bring clarity to the dizzying circulation throughout the property. Kasian’s design has been successful in affecting the big change required to revive the property in this iconic downtown Toronto area.
