With three decades of international architectural experience, Aziz brings deep design knowledge and business acumen to his role as Vice President of Business Development. He specializes in designing for the Commercial, Public, Senior Living, and Healthcare sectors, as well as in the service of Master Planning and Urban Design. His more notable projects include the Edmonton Federal Building, South Edmonton Common, Dubai G+50 Residential Tower, Revera McConachie Gardens, Southgate Mall, and the Edmonton City Centre revitalization.

As a qualified mediator (Q.Med.), he approaches each project ready to truly listen and build consensus, so each stakeholder gets what they need. He believes that good design enhances people’s lives and makes a conscious effort to bring functional and cultural sensitivity to the projects he works on. Volunteering is a significant part of his life, and he is always grateful for the opportunity to pay it forward through community service and mentoring upcoming architects and designers. He has been recently appointed to the Board of Directors at the Universal Design Network of Canada (UDNC) as an RAIC representative. The UDNC focuses on inclusivity and accessibility, working with and educating government bodies, industries, and individuals on the importance of Universal Design. We asked, Aziz Bootwala answered:

What do you like most about working at Kasian?

“What I love about what I do is that our clients dream big, and we as architects and designers have the privilege of making those dreams come true. It’s great to complete a project and see that smile on the client’s face. Architecture is not an isolated profession — I love the interdisciplinary work, as well as mentoring our up-and-coming team members.”

What makes a great design?

“It’s not about winning awards, but about meeting the client’s needs and exceeding their expectations. A great design is sustainable, and more importantly, it will leave the world a better place than before me.”
