Architecture is a moving music, where every line, curve, and space plays its part in the grand composition of the built environment.

24 years ago, I came to Canada with a deep-seated ambition to contribute my unique perspective to the vibrant tapestry of Canadian architecture. Overcoming language barriers and adapting to a new culture, my journey is marked by unwavering determination and an unyielding belief in the transformative power of design.

With over 30 years of experience, my commitment to successful project delivery has led me to become a Senior Architect and Project Manager. I have extensive experience delivering various projects with a focus on commercial, industry, and mixed-use residential projects. My recent projects include James Cowan Theatre, and BC Hydro workspaces and site facilities in urban and suburban British Columbia.

We Asked, Lily Yang Answered:

What makes a great design?

“A great design is to weave a narrative of purpose and aesthetic, crafting spaces that are not merely structures but living stories that resonate with today’s needs and tomorrow’s aspirations. Each blueprint is a canvas where functionality dances with beauty, and innovation embraces tradition—a symphony of design that harmonizes the practical with the poetic, creating spaces that stand as testaments to thoughtful evolution.”

How would you describe your leadership style?

“I like to balance the emotional and relational aspects of leadership with a commitment to the growth and development of each team member and aim to create a positive and harmonious work environment. All team members are encouraged to reach their full potential and use open communication and feedback to create a culture where team members feel comfortable expressing their thoughts, ideas, and concerns. We actively foster a sense of belonging, trust, and collaboration within the team.”
