We Asked, Alev Gultekin Answered:

What have you achieved in your career that you’re particularly proud of?

“One of the things I’m most proud of is moving to Canada and being able to continue the career I had studied for. Getting established in a new country wasn’t easy, but I became a registered architect in British Columbia and successfully built a career here.”

What makes a great design?

“Great design starts with understanding who will use the space and how it needs to function. It not only meets the client’s goals, but also the needs and expectations of patients, families, staff, and visitors. Because healthcare design involves many technical, operational, and budgetary requirements, the best solutions are practical, well coordinated, and easy to use. While they may appear simple, they are the result of careful listening, collaboration, and attention to detail.”
