The Scott Mission’s new facility is helping meet the urgent needs of individuals and families in the GTA facing hunger and homelessness.

This 25,000-square-foot building serves as a centralized hub for managing food and clothing donations and is located close to several major highways for easier transportation.

Its completion was part of an enabling work project to move existing program spaces that were located at their downtown Toronto facility on Spadina Avenue. The Hub was one of two such projects; the other being the renovation and relocation of the overnight emergency men’s shelter that was moved further south on Spadina at the end of 2021.

The Hub facilitates the delivery of meals, family services, counselling, and other vital resources directly to underserved neighborhoods, ensuring access for those unable to travel long distances to reach these critical services. The new commercial kitchen that allows for the preparation of hot meals that are distributed to locations across the GTA.

The Hub also accommodates the organization’s administrative offices, providing space for the executive team, ministry and program directors, donations, and operations. From this site, Scott Mission will also serve the local Rexdale community with a food and clothing bank and a team providing clinical counselling and case management.

By increasing such life-transforming outreach to vulnerable populations, Scott Mission can lay the foundation for a better future for generations to come.
