Kasian designed the new Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) E Division Headquarters in Surrey, BC. This landmark project is a Public-Private-Partnership (P3) between the Government of Canada and Green Timbers Accommodation Partners, a consortium formed by Bouygues Batiment International, HSBC Infrastructure and ETDE FM Canada. The headquarters provides 820,000 SF of consolidated office and support space for 2,700 police personnel, previously housed in 25 separate locations throughout the BC Lower Mainland. It works as a cohesively designed campus complete with a seven-storey operations centre, a post-disaster emergency operations centre, and a warehouse facility including workshops, garage and vehicle bays.
Built to LEED Gold specifications, the design takes advantage of the unique setting within the historic Green Timbers Urban Forest. Open flexible planning and extensive glazing maximizes the views promoting a healthy, vibrant work environment. The incorporation of green roofs as well as a stormwater detention pond allow the buildings to respond and contribute to the natural surroundings while addressing necessary stormwater management on site.
