OVERVIEW

The Pacific Highway Port is primarily a commercial port handling the bus and truck traffic which is not permitted to pass through the neighbouring ports of Peace Arch and Douglas. The examination warehouse had limited capacity to handle current and future needs’ as such a new warehouse was proposed to be located at the south east corner of the property.

We designed a new two-storey, 20,085 ft2 commercial inspection facility on the site with existing inspection buildings and facilities. The new facility is comprised of an office block to the north and double height warehouse space to the south.

The biggest challenge of the project was the nature of the facility itself. Security was of utmost importance. Physical and visual access to specific areas within and into the building was critical. We integrated translucent structural fibre glass panels to provide a better working environment for staff while maintaining the integrity of security and privacy for facility operations.
