Helicopter Hangar, CFB Petawawa: Purpose-built support for helicopter training and operations

Kasian was engaged to develop the functional program, schematic design and technical specifications for new facility to support the CH-147 Chinook helicopters, based at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Petawawa. Working closely with the Department of National Defence (DND), Defence Construction Canada (DCC) and their contractors (Boeing and CAE), our team developed the detailed requirements and conceptual siting and design for the new hangar facility which include 1^st and 2^nd line maintenance bays, service facilities and workshops, warehouse space, training facilities including flight simulators, and administrative office space. Our work was translated into an RFP for Design-Build services and Kasian was part of the owner’s representative team, reviewing the work of the design-build team to ensure all requirements were met.
