Kasian was engaged as the Prime Consultant for the design of BDO Canada’s new Vancouver office at 1055 West Georgia Street. The design team was responsible for project management, programming, interior design, production drawings and contract administration services.

Work with stakeholders outlined their vision, goals, and program requirements, establishing the key guiding principles for the new workplace. Amenity and collaboration space was important as was the need for a workspace with brand recognition that supported a strong culture with flexibility for growth and the attraction and retention of employees.

Site reviews evaluated the existing interior conditions across the three floors that would be occupied by BDO’s future workplace. After which, program requirements were compiled and translated into preliminary schematic space plans that were refined and solidified.

The layout was planned to take advantage of the views available from each floor and followed LEED principles to ensure that natural light was available to all users of the space. Materials, finishes, and furnishings were selected to embody sustainability and reflect the desired west coast look and feel.

A new interconnecting stair between the floors is a key feature of the new space with the intent to encourage and foster connection and collaboration between departments.

In addition to a large training room and a divisible boardroom, smaller meeting and collaboration areas, multiple coffee lounges, and a spacious lunchroom provide alternative workspaces to open workstations and accommodate visiting staff from other BDO Canada locations.
