Austin Works Yard: Modernizing Coquitlam’s operations for efficiency and growth

Austin Works Yard is the City of Coquitlam’s primary operations centre. Kasian provided detailed programming and design for Phase 1 of the Austin Works Yard Master Plan which laid out a roadmap for the renewal of their aging facility to meet Coquitlam’s growing service demands. Phase 1 involved the construction of a new Fleet Maintenance and Workshop building, expansion of the yard storage space and conversion of vacated workshop space in the Water Sewer Utility Building into administrative space.

Through the programming process, we identified site grading challenges with the master plan location of the Fleet Maintenance and Workshop building. Through a collaborative process with the City, we redeveloped the Master Plan to a more efficient and cost-effective solution to guide future steps in the redevelopment.
