Abbotsford-Huntington Border Crossing: Expanding efficiency while maintaining seamless operations
Abbotsford-Huntingdon Border Crossing is a land crossing that processes both traveller and commercial traffic. Kasian was engaged in renovating the existing main operations building, designing an expansion to that building, and adding an additional vehicle lane and inspection booth. Working within the limited plannable area, Kasian designed the expansion as a two-storey block, articulating the mass in simple forms and matching the materiality to preserve the existing building characteristics. The new work, including the additional vehicle lane, was carefully planned and the construction choreographed to allow the site to continue operation throughout the construction period.
