Returning to place: How real estate can unlock value through human experience
We can conduct nearly our entire lives online. So, when we chose to leave our home, there is a strong purpose: to satisfy a craving to be social, to build relationships or to have an important experience. This puts emphasis on the meaning of place and designing for the human experience first, in order to attract and retain users.
Real estate owners and operators can capitalize on the inherent value in their existing assets by activating them as people-centered places. Making adaptive enhancements at the point of greatest impact can transform even mediocre spaces into compelling experiences, as demonstrated by our work by our Lifescape™ studio.
In January 2020, Will Craig wrote a related piece for BOMA International: Designing for the Human Experience, and a follow up article exploring post-pandemic strategies: Returning to Place.
