Reshaping a community

Bringing vision to life; a catalyst for a new downtown

Surrey City Hall + Civic Plaza

The City of Surrey had a vision to transform its city – using architecture to enact change for its people. Initial exploration showed us that a different space was needed to achieve the impact desired; we recommended moving the project to its current location and what is now Surrey’s new downtown.

Our ability to see potential allowed us to create a masterpiece that is flexible and welcoming, carefully designed using sustainable materials and local products so this and future generations benefit. The city hall and civic plaza accommodate more than just City operations by providing a space designed to bring a community together. In the months since its opening we have seen the plaza used for concerts, community festivals and holiday celebrations – just as we imagined. We completed this project in partnership with Moriyama + Teshima Architects.
