When you enter a space and know what it’s for or whose it is without seeing the name on the door, that’s great design at work.

A great space feels truly alive. I am a principal at Kasian and I’m focused on thoughtful use of design to add powerful value to business. Over the past 31 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with business leaders across Canada, helping them transform how we work, learn and live.

I’m in my element working with complex multi-stakeholder projects and relish bringing consultants, contractors and client groups together to achieve a common goal. I begin each project by building a strong understanding of my clients and their unique business strategies. Then, through a fearless process of discovery, I embrace bold solutions to help clients rethink how their environment can be a catalyst to enhance their goals, strengthen their brand and improve the experience for all who venture within.

Some of the projects I am most proud of include BioWare’s headquarters,  the award-winning ‘Future Friendly Workplace’ at TELUS House Toronto, Sheraton Hotels, MacEwan University, Husky Energy and the EPCOR Tower — projects with compelling design strategies tailored to support each client’s vision and business objectives.

Very proudly, I’m engaged in the Edmonton community, having served as a trustee for the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation and Chair of their Festival of Trees, and as a board member for the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce. I was named one of Business in Edmonton’s Top Business Leaders of Tomorrow and the University of Alberta Wanderers Top 100 Edmonton Women in Business. In the community, I focus on strengthening art and culture by actively fundraising for local charities that I am passionate about.

What makes a great design?
