Position Overview:

As our People and Culture Advisor, you will make a positive impact on supporting our people through their employment journey. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, you will champion the culture and values of Kasian and drive the development and implementation of our thoughtful people practices across all of our offices. This includes onboarding, training and development, metrics/reporting, compensation, employee engagement, and performance management.

 

Here’s what you’ll be doing at Kasian:

  • Work closely with the Director of People & Culture to bring in new ideas and initiatives that continuously build and support our culture and programs
  • Provide timely consultation, support, and coaching on employee relations, performance management, and employee disciplinary issues to employees and managers
  • Establish and maintain positive employee relations that reflect our people philosophy and policies
  • Ensure compliance with all provincial and federal laws and regulations relating to employment standards, human rights, privacy legislation, and employment equity
  • Assist with the annual compensation review process by compiling key employee compensation data to be reviewed with the senior management team, and highlighting important information or recommendations to consider
  • Support the annual performance reviews by providing guidance and coaching to managers on carrying out discussions with employees; review completed forms, analyze trends, and follow up on key information
  • Coordinate disability claims with our benefits provider and assist with return-to-work plans for employees
  • Facilitate the departure process and outplacement activities for departing employees including termination conversations, exit interviews, and coordinating with relevant corporate teams
  • Manage the Training and Development Program by tracking the program’s budget and educating employees on the Firm’s commitment to supporting them to attain their professional designations and licensures; identifying development opportunities for staff and liaising with the Principal team and CFO for approvals; evaluating the ongoing professional development and training requests including overseeing education reimbursements
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires including conducting orientations, respectful workplace training, and 60- and 90-day check-ins with manager and employee
  • Maintain key documents or systems including the Employee Guide, Occupational Health & Safety Manual, Contractor Check and the Employment Equity submission
  • Accurately manage and maintain the integrity of employee data, including organizational structure, transfers, promotions, and exits
  • Assist with the analysis of P&C data, metrics, and information to foster business insights
  • Participate in various people and culture initiatives including employee wellness, employee recognition, and diversity and inclusion

 

What you bring to Kasian:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with HR specialization, with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in a generalist role
  • CPHR designation is an asset
  • Solid understanding of various HR provincial legislations specific to British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario (i.e., Employment Standards, Human Rights, Health and Safety, etc.).
  • Excellent software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience working with ADP Workforce Now considered an asset
  • Experience supporting multiple offices is an asset
  • Ability to foster connections by putting people first and building strategic trusting relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A high level of initiative and innovation
  • Highly ethical and ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact
  • Strong influencing/ advisory skills
  • Reliability as a team player

Salary starts at $65,000 + per annum, based on a 40-hour work week. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, and skill set.
