Where a community comes together

Building a better future for Fort Nelson

Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre

After the community arena collapsed, the Fort Nelson community needed a replacement recreation facility. Community consultations revealed that the facility should provide both comprehensive recreation programming and a place for community members to gather.

Working with the community and Bird Construction the design builder, Kasian (and formerly CJP Architects) helped identify the specific programming needs of the community. Site work began almost immediately; the project team knew that the community had gone too long without any recreation facilities and decided to deliver the project in 3 phases.

Today Fort Nelson is home to an all seasons, multi-purpose facility; sustainably designed to provide residents with 2 arenas, 3 multi-purpose rooms, a community hall, a visitor information centre and a commercial grade kitchen.
