A revitalized community connection between Liberty Village and Queen West
With a community in transition, developers saw the opportunity to develop the Liberty Village area into a destination for Torontonians. The overall development will link West Queen West to Liberty Village with a unique bike + pedestrian path and provide 500 residential units and more than 170,000 ft2 of retail space.
Working with the design architect, TACT Architecture and our client, we supported the design development of the retail spaces, connection corridors, and the high line connection. The retail spaces needed to accommodate large anchor tenants in an urban setting and to create a vibrant and active streetscape we collaborated to achieve a NY style high line connection.
But more than this, the King High Line, when developed to its full extent, presents the greatest potential for creating a unique city landmark – a destination in and of itself – and one of the defining community assets that continues to grow Toronto’s profile as a world-class city.
