Big ideas come from little ones

Providing parents and kids with a safe place for healing + health

Alberta Children’s Hospital

When children are sick a community comes together; families in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan had no dedicated resources for their children. The Calgary Health Region decided to make a change and the Alberta Children’s Hospital was born.

Big ideas came from little ones; by asking the children how they would design a hospital our eyes were opened to different design ideas. We knew that family centered care was core to the facilities success but wanted to provide children with a space that was safe not scary. Meeting with 38 unique groups helped give us insight into what would make the hospital a success for all. Our final design is unlike any hospital; it truly is a place dedicated to the wellness of our children.
