Kasian was shortlisted as one of three design consortia to design the Womens College Hospital (WCH) ambulatory care and research facility in downtown Toronto. The design is an eight storey and is made up of three major components- the ambulatory care block, the research tower and the education podium, all connected by a three storey, light filled atrium.
The healing and life theme supporting the hospital environment is reflected in all aspects of the design. Our key design  objectives were aimed at enhancing the patient experience by creating a wellness inspired place; welcoming and warm  milieu; clear visual arrival and exit points; universal access at all entrances and to all exterior amenity space; and prominent  presence befitting a centre of academic, research and clinical excellence.
The design addresses these objectives through the configuration of three building components: the tower, block, and podium. Each building component holds a significant portion of the mission of the hospital, placing research in the tower,  clinical services in the block and conference and education facilities in the podium. The distinctiveness of the three forms  assists in the reading of the building in wayfinding and orientation. A wellness garden located on the roof of the education podium, accessible to staff and patients, supports and enhances patient therapy and healing.

Kasian was responsible for the clinical planning and the interior design for this Alternative Finance and Procurement pursuit.
