The first building that defines the academic gateway into the existing academic core,this multi-purpose academic and research building includes classrooms, offices, wet and dry labs, and a 300-seat lecture theatre. It will feature interdisciplinary open concept labs — the first of their kind in Canada.

Ensuring that the building can evolve over time as new paradigms for research are introduced is a major focus of the design. This will ensure the building can be used for various purposes in ever-changing configurations. It will also be integrated into the area’s terraced landscape.

The project features geothermal in-slab heating and cooling built into the floors and ceilings. It has been awarded a certification of 5 Green Globes, reflecting its sophisticated sustainable design.
