The Royal Jubilee Hospital is one of the oldest and largest hospital complexes in Canada. The Vancouver Island Health Authority needed to replace a number of separate, aging facilities with a state-of-the art Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.
The final design reflects the new paradigm in acute care: efficient treatment delivered during short-term hospital stays in facilities that continually evolve. The entire centre was designed to be flexible so that it can easily reconfigure to adapt to new technologies. It is designed to accommodate constant patient turnover and houses only critical-care beds.
