I’m easy-going, unpretentious and genuinely committed to seeing everyone succeed.

When you work with me, you’ll work hard and have fun doing it. As Managing Principal of Kasian’s Edmonton office and the industrial sector leader, I have over 30 years of extensive experience in managing complex multi-disciplinary projects. I balance my creativity and love of design with the hands-on practicality I’ve developed as a woodworker and sketch artist. As a master planner in commercial, retail and warehouse distribution, I find innovative solutions for multi-building layouts, multi-tenant zoning and greenfield sites.

I’m particularly proud of my recent work which includes the current re-development of Rice Howard Place Podium, and the new Canadian Western Bank Tenant Improvements within Manulife Place. I’m known for my inclusive approach, skillful project coordination and strategic site planning, ensuring optimal support for each specialist to excel in their roles.

My Sectors: Commercial Mixed-Use, Industrial & Utilities.

My Services: Architecture, Lifescape, Master Planning & Urban Design, and Planning, Design & Conformance.

We asked, Dean Benvenuto answered:

Are you a mentor at Kasian?

“I enjoy mentoring those who are early in their career because I benefitted from the advice and experience of others before me. This extends beyond the firm to students who may not yet have committed to architecture. I’ve led office tours and discussions with high school and university students, hoping to teach them how much fun it is to be an architect.”

Is there anything else you like to teach?

“I am very comfortable with sketching down design ideas with pen and trace. I find this an invaluable tool when trying to communicate my ideas to a client. I held an internal drawing session with pencils and markers to teach sketching techniques to my team. I was impressed by how quickly they improved, since it’s such a practical and creative skill to nurture.”
