Vancouver International Airport has some exciting major expansion projects ahead

For Immediate Release

As one of North America’s fastest growing airports, Vancouver International Airport has some exciting major expansion projects ahead that Kasian is proud to be involved in. In 2017, the airport welcomed a record-breaking 24.2 million passengers and expects to accommodate 32 million by 2022. Included in YVR’s list of capital projects, which are expected to cost $9.1 billion, are terminal expansions, parking changes and sustainability features. By the end of the year, the airport expects to create around 2,500 full time construction jobs on Sea Island, plus many others off-site.

Our Vancouver Team is working on the new YVR Pier D expansion project that will help accommodate the increase in passengers and provide a new travel experience. A “forest” of towering Western Hemlock is part of a display that will allow visitors to the Vancouver area to be immersed in nature without even leaving the terminal. It will likely be the largest indoor planter in the world, according to the Vancouver Airport Authority’s vice-president of engineering.

Additionally, Kasian will be showcasing our work on the new Pier D expansion with an interactive VR experience at the upcoming Smart Airports Conference on July 23-25 in Edmonton, Alberta. Over 100 Leading airport and aviation experts will offer leading insights, present interactive panels, and host specialized workshops. We hope to see you there!
