Kelowna RCMP Police Services Building Wins 2 Awards at SICA Gala!

For Immediate Release

Kasian Vancouver won two awards at the 9th annual Thompson Okanagan Kootenay Commercial Building Awards, hosted by the Southern Interior Construction Association on September 28. The awards included the Judge’s Choice for Best Overall Entry, and best Community Institutional.

The design for the new Kelowna Police Services building has been highly influenced by the City of Kelowna’s Official Community Plan. As such, the new RCMP building has been designed with a sense of authenticity, reflective of the distinct architectural character of the neighbourhood, while being integrated into the existing surroundings.

The building was envisioned as a community asset with a significant opportunity to add to the growing urban fabric of downtown Kelowna. On the one hand, it is a highly secure police facility with a mandate to build on the legacy of the RCMP, on the other, it is a highly visible civic building with a vision to enhance the heritage of a vibrant lakeside community.
