The European Healthcare Design (EHD) Congress & Exhibition held on June 27-28 celebrated vanguards of change: co-designing services and settings to improve quality and access to healthcare. This global forum brought together policy advisors, researchers and practitioners from around the globe to the Royal College of Physicians in London, UK. Organized by Architects for Health and the SALUS Global Knowledge Exchange, the event takes on a holistic approach to redesigning European health systems and services through the exchange of knowledge, research and international best practices on the relationship between health system and service design, technology and the built environment. Kasian Principal and our VP of the Healthcare market sector, Ian Sinclair, along with Design Manager Golnaz Rakhshan, had the pleasure of attending this prestigious event last month.

The European Healthcare Design Awards
The EHD launched an awards ceremony, led by VINCI PLC as the award sponsor partner, to recognize professional excellence in projects that have made the greatest contributions to redesigning services that improve quality and access to healthcare in Europe and around the world. After a highly competitive and intensive judging process with an evaluation committee of internationally acclaimed researchers, practitioners and policy advisors, we were thrilled to hear that the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre won a highly commended award.

The Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre provides a pioneering model for patient and family-centered care.  Located in one of British Columbia’s fasted growing and most culturally-diverse regions, this stand-alone outpatient facility offers over 50 different specialized health clinics and programs. The Centre promotes a proactive approach to healthcare and emphasizes patient-centered care through prevention and education. As a place of healing inspired by nature, this high performance Centre has also achieved LEED Gold certification.

Congratulations to all involved in this project on this outstanding achievement.
