Festival of Trees Event Gets Kasian in the Holiday Spirit

For Immediate Release

The Festival of Trees is a special event that has been taking place in Edmonton around the holiday season for 31 years. The three-day celebration at the Shaw Conference Centre invites the community to contribute uniquely-designed trees, gingerbread creations and baked goods for auction, as well as to enjoy musical entertainment, shopping and other festival activities. All proceeds from the event go the University of Alberta Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and Kaye Edmonton Clinic.

This year, the Kasian Edmonton office has designed and constructed a unique tree called “Woodland Wonder”, inspired by Canada’s peaceful, winter-wooded areas. The holiday creation will be on display for all of the festival events from November 26th through 29th and gifted to the highest auction bidder – next week it will be twinkling in a lucky family’s home!

Here are a few fun facts about the Kasian team’s tree efforts:

  • hours in the bush cutting trees.
  • 2  hours additional cutting to size.
  • hours shopping for decorations.
  • 10  stores visited to get decorations.
  • lunch hours to put together the wood.
  • 3.5  lunch hours to decorate.
  • 1.5  hours to deliver and set up on site.
  • 40  clear globe bulbs to light the tree.

The tree was delivered to the festival site earlier this week, where the team noticed a plethora of other beautiful contributions. More information about the Festival of Trees can be found here:
