This year, our Calgary office has been working with Beakerhead, a famed arts and science festival that occurs every September in Calgary. We are designing and constructing three entry points or ‘gateways’ around the Fort Calgary site. In support of this year’s “Snakes and Ladders” theme, and in alignment with the general spirit of Beakerhead, the entries have been designed to elicit a sense of wonder for those passing through.
The exterior of the entrances are designed as white ghost-like structures glowing from within. Once entered, the entrances reveal an interior passageway draped and covered with brightly covered fabric. The essence involves discovery and delight. It also utilizes construction materials (scaffold, debris netting, flag fabric, and flood lighting) as a nod to our industry. If you happen to be in Calgary this weekend for Beakernight (September 16, 2017 from 7 – 11pm at Fort Calgary and East Village), make sure to check these out and pass into the wild and fun world of Beakerhead!
